Evotec announces sustainable expansion at Milton Park

Life sciences specialist, Evotec, has announced plans to significantly reduce the CO2 emissions at its new site at Milton Park as part of its carbon neutral target.

A client of Glanville Projects for many years, the fit-out of Evotec’s latest premises on Park Drive is set to be completed by Summer 2022. The new site will accommodate state-of-the-art biology laboratories as well as a conference centre, collaborative workspaces, meeting rooms, and a 100-seat restaurant for employees. The company’s continued growth will also see the appointment of 125 new scientific jobs.

The Milton Park facility will be named the Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin Campus, commemorating the British Nobel Prize winning chemist, and will feature a number of energy-efficient operating methods.

Installation of air source heat pumps will replace traditional gas boilers and electric coolers, and low energy lighting and appliances will feature throughout the building. A demand-based laboratory ventilation system will also be introduced, all helping to reduce emissions by an expected 800 metric tons of CO2 per year. That’s the equivalent of a staggering 970,000 worth of smartphone batteries.

Dr Christophe Muller, Global Head of Business Development and Evotec’s Site Head at Milton Park, said, “Our Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin Campus at Milton Park is one of Evotec’s most important and fast-growing fully integrated research and development centres. We’re keen to ensure that sustainability is front and centre of what we do and have therefore invested in state-of-the-art heating and air flow technologies into our new developments. This will reduce our CO2 emissions in line with our internal targets as well as making our site a great and inspirational place to work.”

Evotec has been based at Milton Park since 2000 and since its expansion into 95 Park Drive, the company is one of the largest occupiers of the science park. They have over 700 employees across all major scientific disciplines and have expanded their presence at the Park by over 40% in the last three years. The new Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin Campus is set to become a flagship hub for Evotec to showcase its innovative work.

Providing a complete turnkey construction and commercial management service to Evotec over multiple developments, Glanville Projects is delighted to work on this latest expansion to deliver sustainable solutions for the innovative new building.
